Description
The Beatles first film was this, "A Hard Day's Night" & eschewing the normal form of artwork design, The Beatles chose a photographic design for the Quad poster. Robert Freeman was The Beatles favoured photographer (he took the cover shots for 5 Beatles LP's) & he composed a montage of facial portraits, the juxtaposition referencing the somewhat zany nature of Richard Lester's film. The LP cover was similarly designed as shown. However, Freeman introduced one quirky change (again reflecting the humorous personas" of The Beatles), this being the imposition of one non-Beatle into the matrix, the actor Wilfred Bambell (better known to audiences at the time from the TV Comedy series "Steptoe"). The poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
