After graduating with a degree in History from Queens' College, Cambridge in 1982, Mike Bloomfield took up a position in the City & worked for 15 years at the premier Japanese Investment Bank, Nomura International plc. Mike rose to become Managing Director in charge of Nomura's Capital Markets activities outside Japan, servicing Nomura's Sovereign & Supranational clients across the globe.

Whilst working in the City, Mike pursued his hobby collecting Cinema & Music memorabilia, building a large collection, particularly of posters. Mike was a frequent buyer at Christie's, Sotheby's & Bonham's & also acquired material from a select group of dealers too. After leaving the City in 1997, Mike established MEM, turning his hobby into a fully fledged business.

Since 1998 MEM has been trading successfully in the market. MEM is now one of the longest standing dealers in the market & maintain's a high reputation in the field. MEM's business is focused through two main websites: & In addition, MEM work with the Chantrell family & administer the online archive dedicated to the life & work of the British poster artist, Tom Chantrell, MEM also provide a consultancy service to both the Insurance & Auction industries. In 2011, Mike Bloomfield established the Entertainments auction business at Special Auction Services, Newbury, one of the leading regional auction houses active in this field. Mike also has a long standing advisory relationship with WH Peacocks, Bedford, another key auction house in the market. In addition, Mike also acts as a valuation expert for Worthpoint, the American online valuation service & he regularly contributes articles to their website.

MEM's business is chiefly focused on a large group of private clients. Otherwise, MEM sell online via the websites & undertake a few shows & private exhibitions around the UK each year. With his unique vantage perspective through having been a collector for over 25 years & having been dealing for 14 years, Mike has built up an extensive range of contacts & knowledge about the market.
