Description
Some glorious artwork illustrates this poster for this film about the havoc wreaked upon London by Hitler's dreaded V1 flying bombs (aka a "doodlebug"). From June 1944, V1's were fired at Britain, the vast majority aimed at & hitting London. At the peak, over 100 V1's a day were fired & altogether 9,521 landed. The V1's could not be targeted effectively & simply nose-dived once the propellant was exhausted. As a consequence they were indiscriminate in their choice of targets & took a significant toll on the civilian population. Like many films of this era, the film was shown in black & white but for obvious marketing purposes, the poster advertised a glorious full colour spectacle. The poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
