Description
Poster for one of the cult films of the 1960's carrying Chantrell's trademark use of bold colours, day-glo lettering & a great sense of movement & action. This 1967 film about the notorious Depression era gangsters (1931-34) was ground-breaking, both in it's realistic portrayal of violence & for telling the story from the perspective of the hoodlum team (erstwhile, the norm in Hollywood had been to explore crime dramas from the viewpoint of the moral majority). The poster presents good images of the two leads. Warren Beatty was already a top star at the time but "Bonnie and Clyde", marked one of Faye Dunaway's first major films. The huge success of "Bonnie and Clyde" catapulted Dunaway to A-list status, her next role being opposite Steve McQueen in "The Thomas Crown Affair". This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
