Description
Probably the most famous of all British Sexploitation posters. Beautifully illustrated by Tom Chantrell, this poster title featured in Christies auction of "Exploitation Poster Art" in 2006. Though the film was hardly high art, it did terrific business in Britain during the repressed times of the 1970's. Sex Comedies such as this benefited from a relaxation of censorship & with a dearth of other film productions available, many stalwarts of the British acting firmament found themselves rubbing shoulders with more "racey" performers. Thus "Come Play With Me" featured the likes of Alfie Bass, Irene Handl, Ronald Fraser, alongside Mary Millington & Sue Longhurst .  The film was written & directed by the doyen of the British Sexploitation market, George Harrison Marks & was bankrolled by the publisher David Sullivan (who also happened to be Ms Millington's boyfriend at the time). For more information about the poster artist, Tom Chantrell, see www.chantrellposter.com & for an amusing read about this genre of film, Simon Sheridan's book "Keeping The British End Up" (2001) can be recommended. This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
