Description
Poster for this cult classic scripted by Peter Fonda, Dennis Hopper & Terry Southern. A film very much reflective of the counter-culture mood of it's time, "Easy Rider" was made for a mere $500,000. The film was one of the first to embellish its soundtrack with a pot-pourri of Hard Rock and was to spawn a series of "personal statement" movies in it's wake. The poster design was clearly based on the American US 1-Sheet poster as shown (image courtesy of www.emovieposter.com) but the day-glo colouration of the Quad makes this a poster that is a real eye-catcher. It is possible that the UK Distributor wanted to heighten the sense of danger & notoriety associated with the film. For the West End premiere, Hell's Angels were recruited to ride around Leicester Square! A common fault with this poster is that there is "rub" from the red title ink onto the yellow background: this due to posters being machine-folded prior to the ink being properly set. The majority of Quads from this era were machine-folded so that they could be conveniently posted out to cinema managers around the UK. However, the poster here escaped machine-folding (probably a printers proof copy) & thus has avoided any "rub". A rare vintage poster that is in near Mint condition.
