Description
An intriguing poster design based on the 1951 novel by Ray Bradbury of the same name. Truffaut fathfully adapts Bradbury's vision of a futuristic society in which books are banned & fire-fighters are tasked to burn any books found. This theme had particular relevance in the 1950's with the recent ousting of the Nazis & the prevailing totalitarian regimes in the Soviet Union & China. However, Bradbury's concern about censorship remains topical in present times too (witness our current obsession with political correctness). The poster design picks up the fire-fighting theme, even reflected by the singed half-faced image of Julie Christie. This is a clever device hinting at the two contrrasting roles Julie Christie plays in the film. This is an arresting poster design for an intelligent & thought-provoking film. This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
