Description
"Frankenstein" starring Boris Karloff in 1932, is probably the most famous of all Horror film posters. This poster is for the re-release of the film in the UK during 1957, this being the 25th anniversary of the film. The poster design is deliciously OTT, the blood dripping from Frankenstein's scalp being a particularly nice touch. Subtle, the poster is not. The lurid red background, gothic script & looming visage of the monster, would have made a real impact at the time. This is a poster which would have turned heads. A great example of 1950's commercial art. The poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
