Description
One of the most instantly recognisable images from the world of 20th Century cinema. The design is quite simple, the vulnerability & isolation of the girl swimming on the surface, clear for all to see. The image of the eponymous shark, driving towards his prey warns the audience for the shocks to come. Most unusually, the imagery (by Roger Kastel) was already composed befoire the film was made, this being artwork used to illustrate the book cover of the Peter Benchley novel "Jaws". Universal Studios were so impressed with Kastel's work that the image rights were acquired & the image of "Jaws" was to re-appear on the Posters for the 3 sequels (1978-87). Though the Poster design was iconic, mention must also be made of the John Williams soundtrack to the film, one of the most startling & effective refrains to grace any film. This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & Linen-backed.
