Description
A framed & glazed US Insert (14"x 36") for probably the most famous motor racing film of all time, Steve McQueen's "Le Mans". McQueen was a motor racing fanatic (both bikes & cars) & was naturally drawn to this project. Unlike James Garner's "Grand Prix" (1966) in which the motor racing acted as second fiddle to the drama, "Le Mans" is a film for racing purists. Though McQueen was the named star, the vehicles were the real attraction. Indeed McQueen hardly utters a word for the first 35 minutes of the film (for a plethora of detail about the film, please see "A French Kiss With Death: Steve McQueen & The Making of Le Mans" by Keyser & Williams 1999). American artist Tom Jung contributed both the design & artwork for the film. Apart from his movie poster work Jung was also in high demand from film studios for his storyboard work too (pre the computer age storyboards were used to provide film-makers with visual concepts & continuity guides). Jung's artwork was embraced in many international jurisdictions & though generally most UK Quad posters featured artwork that was different to that used in America, in this instance, the British Quad duplicates Jung's work.
