Description

The UK Quad for Quentin Tarantino’s “Pulp Fiction” is a worthy poster for one of the most popular and influential films of all time. Controversial for its language and violence upon initial release, Tarantino’s film nevertheless garnered rave reviews and had strong box office returns. Now considered a landmark in American film, “Pulp Fiction” regularly occupies the upper echelons of best and favourite film of all time lists.

Likewise, the Quad maintains its standing as one of the most iconic of all contemporary posters and certainly one of the most recognisable. In what has become commonplace in Tarantino film posters, the imagery is simple though striking, assisted by a lurid and well-thought out colour scheme. Here leading actress Uma Thurman is shown in character smoking a cigarette against a dark backdrop. The fact that Tarantino’s name is in a font larger than that of the rest of the cast shows the growing popularity of the Tarantino ‘brand’.

Tarantino’s first major release, “Reservoir Dogs”, received a similarly iconic poster. Again utilising simple photographic imagery, the stylish, cool, though undeniably bloody nature of his work is captured wonderfully. The impressive array of posters for Tarantino films has continued with his later releases too. The Quad’s for “Death Proof” and “Inglourious Basterds” are also featured on this site and again stand out against the majority of modern posters.
