Description
Another iconic image, this time from the 1979 film based on the Rock-Opera by The Who, "Quadrophenia". With a cast of relative unknowns (Phil Daniels & Ray Winstone were at the start of their careers & Sting was only just ascending the heights when filming commenced), the film examined "Mod" culture, particularly in London & the south coast resort of Brighton. Scooter clubs were drafted in as "extras" & much merriment ensued with the extras mixing freely with the cast after each day's filming (with the honourable exception of Sting). The poster was a departure from the norm, pre-dating the switch to pure photographic/PC poster designs by 10-15 years. The film now has a huge cult following & the poster design has proved very influential (see "The Usual Suspects" 1995 & particularly "This Is England" 2006). This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
