Description
This is a UK 1-Sheet for the first of the "St. Trinian's" series of films with sequels appearing in 1957, 1960, 1966, 1980, 2007 & 2009. "St Trinian's" originally started as a newspaper cartoon strip, drafted by Ronald Searle with Searle subsequently being commissioned to bring his anarchic schoolgirls to life on posters such as this. This 1-Sheet also features Alastair Sim as the scheming Headmistress "Millicent Fritton". Searle was incacerated by the Japanese after the fall of Singapore in 1942. He hid drawings of the brutality he encountered under his bed (at risk of execution) & these were later published after the war. This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
