Poster for this film about a hugely enjoyable (& illegal) car race across America, boasting an eclectic cast, including Burt Reynolds, Roger Moore, Sammy Davis Jr, Farah Fawcett, Dean Martin etc. The illustration here is by one of the leading American poster artists, Drew Struzan. Struzan employs an air-brush technique which is highly distinctive. He is one of the favourite poster artists used by both George Lucas & Steven Spielberg. Examples of Struzan's work can be seen on the American designs for various "Star Wars" posters & the entire "Back To The Future" series of posters too. This particular Quad poster is quite interesting as the strapline at the bottom shows it to have been produced early in the film's roll-out, specifically for the London West End release. Custom at the time saw films premiered (usually at one of the key London cinemas) followed by a West End release (possibly with a limited release in other key metropolitan centres) & then the film would gradually be "unrolled" across the UK. This is why you can sometimes see variations in some first release posters for the same film (for instance with added text after Oscar nominations). The poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
