An extremely rare UK Teaser poster (20"x 30") for the first sequel to "Star Wars" (1977). Such is the rarity of this piece that it does not appear in the supremely comprehensive "Star Wars: Poster Book" by Sansweet & Vilmur (2006). The poster was designed for the UK premiere of "The Empire Strikes Back". The world premiere took place on 17th May 1980 in Washington DC & in the UK the film enjoyed a Royal premiere on 20th May 1980. Such was the impact of the "Star Wars" phenomenon that the poster was designed in a minimalist fashion, it being assumed that "Darth Vader's" helmet would be sufficient an indicator of another "Star Wars" film, the designer banking on observers being aware of the significance of the use of the word "Empire". Slight fading to upper portion but a fascinating piece all round. The poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & inen-backed.
