Description
An example of the "less is more" school of poster design. The white poster background is over printed with red & black & yet the imagery created is particularly powerful. Underneath the silhouette visage of Brando (as Don Vito Corleone) is "The Godfather" puppeteers logo. This logo perfectly encapsulates the sense of how the Mafia pulled strings to organise crime & manipulate society. "The Godfather" is rightly considered to be a masterpiece & apart from the plaudits of the critics (the film garnered Oscars for "Best Picture", "Best Actor" for Marlon Brando & "Best Screenplay") the film also proved to be a box office hit, generating over $245 million (it cost approx $6m to make). Director, Francis Ford Coppola & Al Pacino (Michael Corleone) would later collaborate on "The Godfather II" (1974) & "The Godfather III" (1990). Due to the predominately white background, this Quad poster (like the "Battle of Britain" too) is difficult to find in good display condition.  This poster has been cleaned, de-acidified & linen-backed.
