DescriptionThis 1961 WWII film was based on the novel by Alistair MacLean & was the first of his novels to be turned into a film. MacLean's work was much in demand during the 1960's-70's, regularly being adapted for the big screen, including such films as "Ice Station Zebra" (1968), "Where Eagles Dare" (1968) & "When Eight Bells Toll" (1971). Boasting a stellar trans-Atlantic cast, "The Guns of Navarone" was sufficiently successful in it's own right to spawn a sequel in 1978, "Force Ten From Navarone".
