Description
Based on the 1946 Film-Noir classic starring Lana Turner & John Garfield, this was a 1981 remake with Jack Nicholson & Jessica Lange taking the two lead roles. The poster design & illustration here is by Vic Fair. Fair is considered by many to have been one of the most accomplished poster designers of the 20th century. Vic Fair worked for two of the most influential Advertising Agencies in London, Dixons & then Downton. Fair not only illustrated posters in his own right but he also provided designs for others to work on (one of his most fruitful collaborations being with the artist Brian Bysouth). The imagery in this poster design immediately conveys a sense of sex & intrigue. A number of Vic Fair's poster designs, play on geometric shapes (see "The Man Who fell To Earth") & this device is apparent in this poster too.
